Another tour in the books! Since returning home I’ve been sort of stuck in a mental haze, trying to process all the amazing experiences I’ve encountered over the past few months on tour. While I’ve been at a loss on how to even begin to communicate them, one thing remains perfectly clear- to borrow the words of the great Joe Strummer, “without people, you’re nothing”.
Following a full U.S tour with the band, I flew directly to Amsterdam where I began a month long solo tour. The tour brought me all over Europe and the UK, playing in countries and cities I’d never been to before. In every place that I went I was a complete stranger. However, the people I met along the way were kind, generous and hospitable. Night after night I had the opportunity to play to packed rooms filled with the most respectful audience members I’ve ever played for. My expectations were greatly exceeded to say the least. To all those who gave me a place to stay, made me meals, washed my clothes, bought me whiskey and most of all lent your ears and engaged in my music, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. It certainly was not easy making all this happen on my own but it was perhaps the greatest experience of my life, in large part because of the people I met along the way. Cheers to new friends and old. May us continue to connect through music.
I’d also like to add that not one show, whether in the U.S or Europe, was booked through a booking agent. All shows were booked the old fashion way of networking and connecting with like minded people through a love for music. I am indebted to all the friends(friends of friends), musicians, fans, venues, and folks who in some way used their time and energy to help make this journey possible, because without you it simply would not have been.
xoxo
